HRPyramid Database Schema Review

9 am - 12 pm | Level: Introductory

This session will provide a detailed review of the HRPyramid database schema. The purpose is to provide attendees with an understanding of the location of operational employee, payroll, benefits, billing and related data stored within the HRPyramid database. This session would benefit both installed and hosted HRPyramid customers that are currently using or intend to use a third party reporting tool such as mvQuery or Informer to self-produce ad-hoc reports. Workstations are not provided as this is not a hands-on course. However, handouts will be provided of all material covered during the session.

Topics covered include:

  • Understanding extended relational data structures
  • Employee master file schema
  • Payroll voucher file schema
  • Tax registers and other accumulated files
  • Employee benefit enrollment data files
  • Billing and Invoicing data files

Who Should Attend This Training:
No technical experience is required.

OnHRP Employee Onboarding

9 am - 12 pm | Level: Introductory/Intermediate

Learn how to setup and manage an effective online onboarding process using OnHRP, the online employee onboarding system integrated with HRPyramid.

Topics covered include:

  • How to automate all necessary new hire forms and actions. All required and criteria-triggered forms and actions are pre-loaded to eliminate errors. OnHRP includes Government forms (I-9, W-4, State & local withholding), eligible benefits and custom forms, client-specific documents and direct deposit. 
  • How to create and use customized templates to embed graphics, files, videos and anything else you can link in HTML.
  • How to accommodate multiple onboarding processes with varying workflows and manage the distribution of new employee orientation packs specific to job level and department or division.
  • How to manage company specific documents and collect and track all new hire data to easily produce compliance reports.
  • How to seamlessly leverage OnHRP Benefits Enrollment to provide employees with online access to benefit plans and programs to process their new hire benefits enrollment and make changes to personal and dependent data as benefit-related life events occur.

Who Should Attend This Training:
This class is designed for anyone responsible for entering new hires, as well as those involved in the employee onboarding process.


Exploring Client Billing From Setup to Profit Reports

9 am - 12 pm | Level: Basic 

Have you ever wondered where the HRPyramid Profit Report numbers are coming from? Pondered the best way to implement SUTA rate changes? This class will cover where those cost and bill rates are stored, how and when rate changes should be entered, bundled versus unbundled billing, reporting options, and more.

At the end of the class, you will have an understanding of the system capabilities regarding billing and can share that with your sales force so they are cognizant of what you can deliver to your clients.

Topics covered include:

  • How to manage state by state FUTA rates
  • When to change and recalculate SUTA rates
  • Worker's compensation setup
  • Administrative fee options
  • ASO billing alternatives
  • Interpreting profit reports

Who Should Attend This Training:
This class is designed for managers responsible for entering new clients, as well as those deciphering profit reports.


PEO / ASO Client Accounting in HRPyramid

1 pm - 4 pm | Level: Intermediate 

This class is designed to give you a better understanding of how to interpret your client’s accounting needs and translate that into an accounting download or report that will provide them the information they need. You will have a better understanding of how HRPyramid uses information stored in the database to appropriately assign the client’s G/L accounts to get the desired results. You will also be able to know when a client’s chart of accounts setup may not work with the HRPyramid data structure.

Topics covered include: 

  • How to interpret, from your client’s chart of accounts, the necessary structure to enter the account numbers in the set up screens.
  • Where in HRPyramid the system is getting the data to assign the G/L accounts numbers and how those affect the resulting report or download file.
  • The use of “wildcards” in the PEO Client Accounting and “prefix/suffix” in the ASO Client Accounting and how you can use those tools to create the results needed for more complicated chart of account structures.
  • New in the latest releases of HRPyramid are functionalities to use non-billing accounting items is PEO Client Accounting and bill codes, other than Administration Fee (006), in ASO Client Accounting. We will review how these new functions will enhance the output created in the past.
  • Finally we will cover the reports and downloads that can be created to send to your clients.
  • As an added bonus, we are going to have an HRPyramid customer share with the class some tips, tricks and “out-of-the-box” methods they have found to enhance the file output for ASO Client Accounting. This should be an excellent presentation.

Who Should Attend This Training:
Those attending this session should have a basic understanding of the HRPyramid payroll process. They should also be familiar with company setup; including the use of divisions, departments, locations, and projects. This session will be at an intermediate level. This session should be attended by users who have the responsibility for setting up the client or processing their payrolls, including Payroll Managers, Accountants, Controllers, and CFO’s or any person involved in setting client accounting.


OnHRP Benefits Enrollment

1 pm - 4 pm | Level: Introductory/Intermediate  

Learn how to setup and manage OnHRP Benefits Enrollment to reduce administrative tasks and eliminate paper-based processes. 

Topics covered include:

  • How to fully automate the OnHRP benefit enrollment process to enable employees to select their group benefits and FSA enrollment choices online, including health insurance, and flex options. Setup your system to allow your employees to review plan details and enroll using a fast, step by step process.
  • How to setup all relevant benefits enrollment information. Learn how existing benefits and eligibility data is fed automatically from HRPyramid to OnHRP Employee Enrollment. Learn how to review data and statistics about employees' enrollment activity through dashboard views and flexible reporting capabilities.
  • How to create and use customized templates to embed graphics, files, videos and anything else you can link in HTML. Learn setup tips to accommodate multiple enrollment processes with varying eligibility rules for specific benefit options.
  • Seamlessly integrate with OnHRP Employee Onboarding that will broaden your solution to also include new hire information and other requirements of your open enrollment process.

Who Should Attend This Training:  
Anyone who assists in the setup and administration of employee benefits enrollment and uses - or plans to use OnHRP in the future - should take this course.

Basic Informer Web Reporting: Jump Start your Reporting Capabilities

9 am - 12 pm | Level: Basic  


This class is an Introduction to Informer's features and reporting capabilities of real-time self-service data from HRPyramid.

Topics covered in this class:

  • Beginner concepts and scenarios
  • Setting up reports
  • Understanding security
  • Frequently asked questions, including best practices

Who should attend this training
Anyone interested in learning basic Informer web reporting should take this class. Attendees should be familiar with Informer Web Reporting. Consider taking Advanced Informer Web Reporting for more in-depth discussion.


HRPyramid Benefits Administration 101  

9 am - 12 pm | Level: Beginner


Are you uncertain of your group benefit setups in HRPyramid? Are you having trouble getting the premiums to calculate correctly for the employees? Avoid manual calculations! Come learn the tricks of the trade from the experts so you can become more efficient and spend less time trying to troubleshoot issues when they arise. You will also learn how to correct common errors when they occur.

Topics covered include:

  • Group benefit plan setups from top to bottom, hands on demonstrations. Go through the proper setup of group benefit plans starting at the system level and working our way down to client setup then enrolling the employees. We will also review how to make common changes on employee enrollments.
  • Section 125 Plans and HSA Plans. Review the proper setups for flexible spending plans versus setting up a separate health savings account plan. We will review when to use which and the differences between.
    Allotted time: 30 minutes for training, 10 minutes for questions
  • The most commonly asked questions regarding the COBRA module and common errors. We will not be doing a full COBRA training. 
  • The Ins and Outs of Benefits Adjustments. We will review when adjustments are created, how the amounts are calculated and how to correct common enrollment errors using benefit adjustments. 
  • What’s new and recent changes  

Who Should Attend This Training Class:
Great for beginner benefit administrators new with HRPyramid, as well as for those on the system that work outside of the benefits department but would like a better understanding of how it works. The COBRA aspect will assume a working knowledge of that module since we will only be going over common issues. 


Web Edition Website Setup

9 am - 12 pm | Level: Beginner/Intermediate


Your Web Edition customer self-service portal can be pivotal when attracting and retaining clients, therefore, you want to be sure you have all the components set up properly. A thorough understanding of the topics covered in this training will also aid anyone who is responsible for setting up and training clients in using Web Edition.

Some of the topics covered in this course include:

  • Setting up user security
  • Creating menus and defining menu options
  • Web batch approval
  • Payroll uploads
  • How to set up checks
  • Customizing the CSS style sheet
  • Setting up forms and documents
  • Setting up external links

Who Should Attend This Training Class:
Those attending this training course will be those who are responsible for client support, training, processing and management, including but not limited to Payroll Processors, Benefits and Human Resources Representatives, Client Support, Client Training, and Managers. This course is intended for those who are new to Web Edition or would like a refresher. No previous knowledge of HTML or other web programming language is necessary for this course; it is meant for end-users.

Advanced Informer Web Reporting: Extend your Reporting Capabilities 

1 pm - 4 pm | Level: Advanced  


Discover new and exciting ways to deliver staff and clients real-time self-service data from HRPyramid.

Topics covered in this class:

  • Several advanced scenarios, including the new Informer Dashboards, SQL connectivity, advanced security, calculated columns, cross-database linking, the Informer SDK, and other functionality.
  • Roundtable question and answer session focusing on existing customer experiences, best practices, and Informer future.

Who Should Attend This Training:  
Anyone interested in learning more advanced Informer web reporting topics should take this class. Attendees should have some familiarity with Informer web reporting. If new to Informer, consider taking the Basic Informer Web Reporting class in addition to this class.


Paid Time Off (PTO) Workshop

1 pm - 4 pm | Level: Beginner/Intermediate  


One of the continual challenges of HRPyramid users is converting a client's paid time off plan to electronic form, particularly if the client has relied on manual or spreadsheet calculations in the past. This session reviews common obstacles in setting up PTO plans. A variety of PTO plans and types will be presented, along with various setting combinations. The instructor will also review how to make adjustments to employee records to facilitate corrections and fine-tuning.

  • PTO Classes
  • PTO Register Types 
  • PTO Plans 
  • Absence Codes 
  • Auto Enroll Rules

Who Should Attend This Training:
Anyone who assists in the setup and administration of client absence benefit plans should take this course. This may include CFO’s, Payroll Managers, Payroll Specialists, and Benefit Managers.

Branding & Customizing Web Edition 11.2

1 pm - 4 pm | Level: Advanced


This training class is designed to provide the attendee an understanding of the various branding capabilities offered by HRPyramid Web Edition, and enough knowledge to perform most or all of the tasks necessary to change the fonts, colors, and logos displayed by Web Edition to conform with their individual client’s branding. Additionally, attendees will leave the class with a solid understanding of the recommended practices for maintaining their custom changes over product upgrades. More advanced developers will be introduced to HRPyramid’s Web Service API for securely interfacing HRPyramid with external applications.

Topics covered include:

  • Changing fonts and colors using HRPyramid Web Edition's built in CSS Editor
  • Leveraging Free and Open Source tools to analyze the CSS elements in Web Edition's pages
  • Re-branding or replacing the login pages that ship with Web Edition.
  • Altering functionality by editing Web Edition’s JSP pages.
  • Accessing HRPyramid’s functioniality from external applications using web services.
  • Maintaining custom code over product upgrades.

Who Should Attend This Training Class:
While some knowledge of HTML and CSS will be helpful, they will not be necessary for the first half of this class, where we will cover the basics of changing fonts and colors in HRPyramid Web Edition. As the class progresses we will cover more advanced topics like adding custom functionality to Web Edition’s JSP pages and the Application Programmer’s Interface (API) Web Service engine built into HRP.
