Hosted vs. In-House Software
HRPyramid available as a hosted solution
HRPyramid is available as a “hosted solution.” HRPyramid.net delivers all the robust functionality of HRPyramid without the cost and hassle of building and maintaining a computing infrastructure.
What is hosted software?
“Hosted software” is software that is loaded on servers in a secure, climate controlled data center, and maintained by professional IT personnel. The software is available on a subscription basis, and delivered through secure Internet protocols.
Why choose hosted software?
Consider this: when you choose to install software as an in-house solution, you often face a large investment in hardware, software and IT personnel, whom you have to recruit, hire, train and retain. You also have to be sure that you have IT best practices in place to be sure your data is protected, reliable and safe.
In many cases, the ASP (“Application Service Provider”) is in a better position to take advantage of economies of scale in sharing resources and facilities, resulting in an optimum IT data center environment with maximum access security, multiple power sources, fire prevention and detection, air conditioning, and 7x24 operation.
How HRPyramid.net works
- HRPyramid is installed and maintained at the HRPyramid.net data center.
- HRPyramid.net maintains the hardware, software and network systems to support HRPyramid and customer data.
- HRPyramid.net is staffed with IT personnel who perform all the necessary maintenance on the systems, such as conducting regular backups, practicing disaster recovery procedures, installing any upgrades to the software, etc.
- The customer accesses HRPyramid and its data account using a web browser and an Internet connection (a private connection is available, if preferred).
- All printed material, such as checks and reports, are printed at the customer site.
- HRPyramid looks and acts the same as if it were accessed through an internal network connection.
Advantages of HRPyramid.net
For many PEOs, hosted software just makes sense:
- Quicker Implementation. Since the ASP already has the equipment, applications, and expertise, hypothetically, you can start using the software the day the contract is signed.
- Shorter Application Cycles. All users are updated with the latest and greatest versions of the software all at once, so the delay is minimal between when the new version is released and when you can start processing with it.
- Premium Application Availability. With the reduction of IT overhead, best-of-class applications are suddenly within grasp for PEO's with limited resources.
- Improved Performance. The business of ASPs is to implement best IT practices for superior levels of availability, security, backup, disaster recovery, and help desk (shadowing).
- Financial Predictability. ASPs provide software and services for a flat subscription fee. The overall expenditures for hardware, applications and management can be reduced 30 to 60 percent.
- Reduced Risk. With no capital expenditure on software, hardware, and IT personnel, PEOs can test out a new or existing software for the right fit. If the software does not meet the PEO's needs, it is much less painful to convert to another system.
- Reduced Redundancy. A popular strategy among PEOs, mergers and acquisitions can sometimes create redundancy in IT hardware and systems maintenance. Not so when the hardware and systems are owned by the ASP.
- Improved Cash Flow. Hosting your PEO software means a lower up-front investment and predictable monthly payments, resulting in improved cash flow.
- Scalability. For a PEO with a focus on growth, it is relatively easy to add server power and expand to additional locations as a business grows.
- 24 by 7 Availability. Because you need only an Internet connection to access the application, even if you are traveling, at a client site, or even at home, you can input and process real information.
- Operational Freedom. When you outsource your application management, you free up your internal resources to focus on your core business function and special projects (you know, those great ideas you're always trying to find time to implement).
Is hosting the right option for my company?
Any size company can benefit from the advantages of hosted software. At any time, your data can be moved to in-house servers, or vice-versa. The key is flexibility, and in today’s changing HRO market, that may be just the competitive advantage you need.
